• Wednesday 1 July 2026 Form 1 learn about Japan - June 26 We were very lucky to have Sakura and her Mum, Mina come into Form 1 and tell us all about Japan! We found its location on the World map and learnt about the change in climate from Hokkaido to Okinawa, the landscape of Tokyo and facts about the bullet train and about Japanese food and culture. It was fascinating and we are all keen to go and visit Japan ourselves!

• Tuesday 23 June 2026 Form 1 visit the Fruit Shop - June 26 Form 1 visit the fruit shop in Melrose as part of their work learning about food from around the world and where it comes from. We looked at a map to locate places and then enjoyed a delicious fruit salad!
• Monday 22 June 2026 Fettes Athletics 2026 What a wonderful day at Fettes yesterday; 9 x 1st places, 11 x 2nd places, 12 x 3rd places and 4 new records, plus outstanding girl athlete (Tilly L :)). Inspirational team spirit and wonderful support from our parents. Well done St. Mary's. Full result to follow.

• Wednesday 17 June 2026 Kindergarten news - drill safety The children in Kindergarten showed curiosity and responsibility as they learnt how to use the drill safely developing their practical skills.
• Wednesday 17 June 2026 Melrose Festival fancy Dress The Boarders were placed 1st in the 12+ groups section as Paul's Fair Bairns Tartan Army .
• Wednesday 17 June 2026 Form 5 Camp 2026 Form 5 had a fantastic two days with the Wild Outdoors in the woods near Nisbet. From the moment we got off the bus until the very last minute before going home, Gregor, Esme and their team (Hannah, Rachael, Ricky and Will) had us busy, engaged and having lots of fun. Focused largely on learning some bushcraft skills, the class learned how to start a safe cooking fire that they used for making their own lunch, how to conceal ourselves in the woods, build shelters and use hand tools to whittle tent pegs. We practiced our hunting skills with axe throwing and archery and made an emergency bracelet with 2 metres of cord.

• Tuesday 2 June 2026 Melrose Festival Junior Ride Out St. Mary's are delighted to have had such a good turnout of riders tonight at Melrose Festival Junior Rideout. FP William Macpherson is Left Hand Man this year, and we look forward to supporting William, and indeed all of this year's principals, throughout Festival week.We are proud to be a part of the wonderful community that is Melrose, with the Festival being a highlight of the town's annual calendar of events.
• Tuesday 2 June 2026 Form 1 visit Sandystones Farm Form 1 had a great trip to Sandystones on Monday. They made cake for the cows, fed Titus the tortoise, counted eggs in the barn and met the ponies getting ready for the Melrose ride out.
• Tuesday 2 June 2026 Reception Class visit the Police Station Reception had a fabulous trip to Galashiels police station. We were shown round by Constable Robertson and had lots of fun learning about the role of police officers in our local community. We even got to dress up and look inside the police cars!
• Thursday 28 May 2026 Childsmile Visit Yesterday morning, we welcomed Allana and Tracey from the Childsmile team, who came to watch us brushing our teeth. Afterwards, the Tooth Fairy had hidden lots of teeth around our garden for us to find! We all received a sticker for our excellent tooth brushing skills.
• Wednesday 27 May 2026 Form 5 - pea shoots Form 5 have been busy harvesting pea shoots from the greenhouse and have delivered them to Chef to use in our lunches this week.
• Wednesday 27 May 2026 Form 7 Environmental Science All year groups have been playing their part in the garden this summer by planting seeds and harvesting produce. These Form 7 pupils were most grateful to have received a donation of swiss chard and spinach seeds from @hendersonsofmelrose and they have now planted them in one of the raised beds. We look forward to sampling their produce before too long!
• Wednesday 27 May 2026 Form 6 Trip - North Berwick Picnic lunch, learning about the effects of plastic pollution along our coast line, exploring the tide line, finishing off with beach cricket!

• Wednesday 20 May 2026 Border Union Schools Day Yesterday, Form 4 enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Border Union Schools Countryside Day in Kelso, adding to their knowledge and experience of rural life. There were around 50 exhibitors at this year's event; have a look at what we got up to!
• Tuesday 19 May 2026 Home grown rhubarb for lunch Harvest time this morning – batch one of the rhubarb will go into a delicious crumble for lunch. Thanks to the kitchen and to the farmers this morning.
