U9A hockey v Loretto v Ardvreck

Wednesday afternoon saw a strong squad comprising all available Form 4 boys and Form 3 stalwarts Ian and Harry head up the A68 for a triangular fixture against Loretto and Ardvreck.
After watching Loretto and Ardvreck battle it out, it was the Green Machine's go against the hosts. Quite frankly, the St. Mary's boys were far too hot to handle; moving the ball at pace from wing to wing before flashing crosses into the D to be swept home by lurking strikers. We scored a heap of goals but Loretto stuck at it right to the last.
It was then time for St. Mary's to play Ardvreck. The Crieff outfit took some breaking down with doughty defending and no little school. However, when the breakthrough came, the St. Mary's boys really turned up the heat scoring goal after goal with a withering hail of shots on target.
The afternoon's hockey matches were a superb showcase for prep school sport and we were delighted to mix with the Ardreck and Loretto boys to share a quick snack after a wonderful afternoon.
Well done to you all!
