U11 D's Cricket vs Cargilfield

Clouds were definitely gathering overhead, but unlike the U11A and U11B teams, we were fortunate to complete our match in ideal conditions before the torrential downpour arrived!

Aoifa captained the side this week and, once again, elected to field first. Cargilfield opened their innings strongly with the highest-scoring pair of the afternoon contributing 17 runs, and they continued to build their total steadily throughout the innings. However, I am delighted to report that our bowling showed great improvement this week, and the team looked much more organised and alert in the field. Cargilfield finished on 56 runs.

Our batting pairings this afternoon were Rumi & Aoifa, Annabelle & Orla, Florence & Lucinda, and Annabelle & Isla. Every pair made a positive contribution to the score, and had it not been for a couple of wickets caused by poor communication and decision-making, the result may well have gone our way. In the end, we narrowly lost by just 4 runs, but the girls remained competitive throughout the match.

Overall, it was a lovely afternoon of cricket, which showed the progress the team has made since last week. Next Wednesday, we have our first away fixture against Ardvreck. Could it be our first win of the season?
