U11 D's vs Belhaven Hill

U11 D’s Cricket V Belhaven Hill

Belhaven Hill 114, St. Mary’s 86

In the middle of what has been a fantastic week of sunshine, it was a welcome relief to enjoy the refreshing coastal breeze at Belhaven this afternoon.

With a reshuffle across the teams, it was great to have the experience of Angus and Dhruv with us. Angus took on the role of batting captain, while Dhruv led the team in the field.

Belhaven won the toss and elected to bat first. The windy conditions certainly made bowling a challenge at times, with several wides helping to keep the opposition scoreboard moving. Some lapses in concentration and unfortunate misfields allowed extra runs to slip away, including several boundaries. Belhaven’s batting highlight came from one player who managed four impressive sixes, helping their side finish on 114.

Belhaven also found consistency difficult with the ball, and by the halfway stage of the innings we were delighted to discover that we were ahead of the opposition’s scoring rate at the same point. While there may not have been many big-hitting moments, the team worked hard to keep the scoreboard ticking over steadily, with two fours providing the highlights of the innings. Most pleasing of all was reaching 86 runs - our highest total to date - showing clear progress and growing confidence as a team.

Congratulations to Rosie, who was deservedly voted Player of the Match by the opposition.

Overall, it was a lovely afternoon of cricket played in excellent spirits and sunshine. However, I would like to see more focus, determination, and desire to win!
