Merchiston Cross Country Relays

Yesterday, 36 of our enthusiastic young runners enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the annual Merchiston Junior Cross Country Relays, one of our favourite events in the cross country calendar. For the first time, we were able to enter two teams into every race - a wonderful achievement for our little school!

The Under 9 girls ran with great determination over a challenging course, and we were extremely proud over their efforts on what is a long course for little legs. The Under 9 boys also performed brilliantly, with a superb comeback run helping the green team secure first place.

The Under 11 races were equally exciting. The girls green team produced another impressive comeback to finish second. The Under 11 boys also ran with grit in what was a very competitive field.

In the final races of the day the Under 13’s continued on our theme of dramatic finishes! The girls green team moved from sixth to second place during their third lap and the boys ran excellently too, rounding off another strong set of performances.

It was a brilliant and sociable day for St. Mary’s, with wonderful support from our families on the sidelines! Well done to all runners.
