Belhaven Mixed Doubles Tennis
On Sunday, Geordie, Stella, Emilia, Anna and Annie travelled up to Belhaven for the annual Belhaven Mixed-Doubles tournament. After surviving an initial shower, the sun shone and set up a great afternoon of tennis.
Geordie and Stella started the group stage confidently, playing dynamic tennis and winning all three of their games. Annie and her partner, Will from Belhaven, played creative tennis, working well together and were also able to go through the group stage unbeaten. Anna and Emilia were clinical, playing attacking tennis and beating a higher-seeded team to finish the group with a clean sweep.
Anna and Emilia lost a tightly contested game in the quarter finals on sudden death. Geordie, Stella, Annie and Will all won their quarter-final games and played each other in the semi-finals. A great matchup for the semi-finals produced a tight game, bringing out the competitive side of our teams. It was back and forth, but ultimately, Geordie and Stella prevailed and secured a spot in the finals.
In the final, Geordie and Stella played the Belhaven first pair; it was a constant battle, but a powerful showing resulted in Geordie and Stella being crowned the winners. While Annie and Will finished 4th overall. It was a great day out with top tennis and great support from parents.
