Monday 16th March
The rescheduled 2025 Abbey Park Relays took place during games this afternoon and proved once again to be a fantastic whole school event. Dry weather, great support around the course and lots of friendly competition ensured that the afternoon was filled with lots of exciting running.
The relay format saw a boy and a girl runner from each squad in every year group, beginning with Form 3 and working up to Form 8. Each runner completed a lap of the school grounds before passing the baton (which is a wooden spoon!) to the next runner in the year above.
As always, there was some excellent running on display from some of our experienced athletes, who set an impressive pace in their legs. Just as importantly, we were all so proud of the fantastic squad spirit shown by those who are not specialist runners and stepped up for their teams, giving their all and playing a vital role in the afternoon.
The atmosphere created by those who were supporting was also brilliant, with lots of loud encouragement from pupils and staff helping to spur on our gritty young athletes.
