3rd XI vs Fettes
This week, the 3rd XI travelled up to Fettes for their first game of the season. Following a good week of practice and preparation, everyone was eager to get the season underway in what was perfect cricketing weather. After losing the toss, St. Mary’s were sent into bat.
Despite a tough start, losing an early wicket, the batsmen showed resilience, growing into the game with some great shot selection and quick running between the wickets. While the team had put in a strong performance, a few runouts meant there was plenty of work required in the field.

The bowling attack got straight into the action, claiming a few early wickets and maintaining constant pressure on Fettes. The fielding was sharp, highlighted by some brilliant wicket-taking and a few successful runouts. In a close finish, the final pair for Fettes managed to build up a partnership and chase down the team’s total.
Although the result didn't go our way, it was a fantastic day of cricket with many positives to build upon. The team is already looking forward to taking these lessons into the next fixture and enjoying more of the summer sun!
