3rd XI v Mowden Hall

3rd XI v Mowden Hall

After a productive week of training and building on our first match, the team made the journey down to Mowden Hall. For the second week, the toss was against us, and we were sent into bat.

Our opening pair set a great tone for the afternoon, batting aggressively and looking to score at any given chance. As the innings developed, the team did an amazing job of keeping the scoreboard ticking over. More impressively, the team showed great confidence in protecting their wickets – a major improvement on last week’s match, which allowed us to set a competitive target. A combination of good shot selection and clear communication helped the team to a solid total of 69 runs.

In the second innings, our bowlers performed well, and the team was able to restrict Mowden's scoring. Although a couple of strong partnerships tested the team under pressure. The fielding was particularly sharp, producing two top runouts. This controlled display with the ball and in the field ensured a successful defence, limiting Mowden to scoring 61.

A great day of cricket that showed a clear improvement from the previous fixture. A well-deserved first win for the team’s hard work and a boost for the season ahead.
