3rd XI v Cargifield
This week, the team travelled up to Cargilfield. After a long weekend away, it was brilliant to get back into the action. The team once again batted first; despite a change to the softball format this week, the squad was well-prepared. Braving the elements and surviving a few showers, the game got underway.
A productive first two overs from our opening pair set a fantastic tone for the innings. Harriet and Clarrissa kept the runs ticking over consistently, with the team showing great discipline to lose very few wickets. Tilly and Emilia were the final pair and, having the luxury of batting two extra overs to balance the numbers, they made them count. Sharp running between the wickets added significantly to the total, with the team finishing on a well-earned 60 runs.
Hector F opened the bowling attack with a very consistent start. His second spell was particularly impressive, claiming two great wickets and a run-out in the final over. Archie followed up with another wicket, conceding just one run from his over. The bowling unit continued to perform well throughout, maintaining focus despite the occasional extra or miss throw. Tara and Rose stepped up in the middle of the innings, which was crucial in limiting Cargilfield's scoring opportunities. Behind the stumps, Hector and Hal rotated effectively, both fielding excellently and setting up several run-outs.
A superb all-round effort with both bat and ball secured a well-earned 18-run victory. This was another fantastic win for the team and a great display on the day!
