3rd XI v Ardvreck
Our first home game of the season took place on the back fields. After welcoming Ardvreck, Hector F won the toss and decided the team were going to bat first.
Emilia and Sophie opened the batting; they got us off to a strong start. Emilia scored a very confident 30 off 14 overs in our two innings. Our next pair of Harvey and Harriet batted brilliantly to keep the runs ticking over. Tilly T batted well, not losing her wicket, and Hector F had a superb session, scoring a strong 31 off 13. Over the two sessions, the team posted 168, with the second batting innings being cut short by rain.
Our bowling and fielding showed great improvement from last week, with lots more catches taken in the outfield. Archie took an outstanding 4/3 across his two overs; our bowling attack was bolstered by Maise’s 2/6. Hector R and Rose were very consistent and reliable with the ball in hand, limiting the extras and runs in their overs. Clariss and Tara fielded well, each taking a wicket while bowling.
St. Mary’s batted first, followed by two Ardvreck innings and a final innings for our team cut short by the rain. Despite the rain, it was still a great day of cricket with much skill on show and healthy competition. A first home game and a confident first home win for the 3rd XI.
