The match in some very tricky wet conditions, sadly got off to a rough start with the opening batsmen from Cargilfield starting them off to a flyer. This unfortunately meant that despite some great wickets in the middle overs as well as some good all-round fielding, St Mary’s had a mammoth target to chase down. This task however brought the best out of the St Mary’s players as we went on to score our biggest total yet with an astonishing 2nd wicket partnership of 51 runs between player of the match Sholto and Holly. Although ultimately we still fell short, the improvement in the batting resilience shown in this game compared to previous weeks will give the team a lot of confidence as we look forward to our first home fixture against Ardvreck.
