1st VII v Loretto

This was our final game of the season and lovely to get a larger squad involved. In all our tournaments and matches this season, we hadn’t come across the Loretto girls but we knew they had some good netballers among their number and so it proved.

The game was well contested with both sets of girls jostling competitively for the ball. I gave both teams a ¼ time chat, advising them to be a little more careful off the ball and from there the game flowed much more coherently. Holly, Emily, Mary & Stella all played a ¼ for Loretto, to make up numbers and all four, as expected, gave it their all.

The goal advantage that we secured in the first quarter (6-3) grew each quarter but never by much. The St. Mary’s girls played in a variety of positions and showed super versatility. I was really impressed with all the girls but it was particularly pleasing to see, Tilly T, Hattie, Tilly L, Tara and Bene make such a seamless transition into the 1sts today – well done to you all.

This was a fitting way to conclude what has probably been our most successful season in years, arguably ever at St. Mary’s. That’s down to you, the girls, for your tireless energy and enthusiasm on the court, as well as your support and encouragement of each other. Just fabulous!
