About Us
Head of Boarding MA (Hons), PGCE

Teaching is part of my core. From spending my summer holidays coaching swimming in the USA, I went straight into teaching after my graduation at St Andrews. My first post was as a Geography Teacher at Kelso High School, where my love affair with the Borders began. My passion for teaching coupled with my love of travelling, saw me spend a summer co-leading a school expedition in the Amazon Rainforest in Peru and, the summer after, living with an Amerindian tribe and teaching English in Costa Rica.

In 2006 I was appointed Head of Geography at Belhaven Hill School, where  I was also involved in coaching rounders, hockey  and senior netball. I established and ran the school swimming programme and squad. In 2010, I became the Girls’ Housemistress running a full boarding house for up to 45 girls, until our first son, Fergus was born.

Boarding at St Mary’s is entering a new phase. It is an exciting and rewarding experience for both children and staff. This is wonderful opportunity for all of us be a part in the growing popularity of boarding here and I am delighted to have been appointed as its Head.

It is great to be living back in the Borders with my husband, Tom and three young sons - Fergus, Hector and Lochie. We are thoroughly enjoying walking and exploring the local countryside, making new friends and immersing ourselves in the life of Melrose and the surrounding areas!
