About Us
BSc (Hons) Science Forms 5-8, (Games) Boarding (Duty Mistress)

I have always wanted to be a teacher and, after completing my zoology degree at Edinburgh University, I worked in the education department at the Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh. It soon became clear that a career in teaching was on the cards, so I returned to Edinburgh University to study for a PGCE in Primary Education. By the time my first child arrived, I was living and teaching in the Scottish Borders, where my parents were based at the time.
For 15 years I worked in local schools in Berwickshire, enjoyed the arrival of two more children, spending the majority of my working life at Reston Primary School. Coming to St. Mary’s has been a wonderful opportunity, not only to teach in an excellent school in a part of the world that I love, but also to return to my roots as a scientist and to share some of the wonders of the world with children.
In my spare time I like to do things with my family, such as camping, hiking, swimming and enjoying games and cards after a good meal. I love to travel and try to get away to see new places at home and abroad as often as possible. Finally, I have a not-so-secret crafting streak, which I indulge with cross stich, knitting and sewing.
