About Us
BEd (Hons), MEd Form 3 Tutor
I was brought up on a farm in the Scottish Borders outside of Kelso.  Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and after graduating from Moray House in 1996 with a BEd Honors I began my teaching career at St George’s School for Girls in Edinburgh.  I taught there for 9 years in a variety of stages and developed my skills in support for learning.

In 2005 my husband and I relocated to China, when there I taught at Tianjin Rego International School and completed a Masters of Education.  I also fulfilled my passion for travelling!

After returning from China in 2008 we moved to Aberdeen, I taught at Strathburn Primary in Inverurie, and then Albyn Independent School in Aberdeen.  It was during this time I completed my Chartered Teacher studies with the General Teaching Council.

In 2010 we relocated to Singapore and between taking care of my daughter Abigail and son Angus, I worked at Rosemount Kindergarten.   However, family and fresh air beckoned and we returned to the Borders in 2014.

Now living in Melrose and teaching at St Mary’s I feel luck has been on my side.  I have been welcomed with open arms, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching in this wonderful, friendly environment.  I have an enthusiasm for trying to capture children’s imaginations and creativeness which enables them to be confident and responsible for their learning.

The children describe me as……kind, fun, awesome, creative and has nice hair!!

My hobbies include horse riding, skiing, rock climbing, reading and dancing although with 2 young children I am also interested in playing shops, dressing up, building train sets and digging in the mud!
