BA (Hons) PGCE Form 4 Class Teacher, Games, On Maternity Leave

Having left school and home life in Cambridgeshire, I embarked on a gap year as a teaching assistant at The British School of Beijing. Following that I got a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and Cultural Studies at the University of Kent, Canterbury. I then applied to do a Primary PGCE at Roehampton University in London but before starting that, I spent another year volunteering at my old prep school, the local village school and a school out in Namibia.
After my PGCE I left London and got my first teaching job at Belhaven Hill doing a maternity cover teaching Geography. After two years I was asked to set up a new form at the lower end of the school (Form 3 equivalent). I was then the form’s class teacher for two years as well as coaching girls and boys teams in a variety of sports and helping out in the boarding houses.
I am delighted to have joined St Mary’s and be Form 4’s class teacher. I am also thrilled to be part of the coaching staff for games and the boarding house staff too. I think all encompassing prep schools like St Mary’s are a fantastic opportunity for children and for me, getting involved with every aspect of it is highly worthwhile and rewarding.
My husband and I live in Edinburgh with our two cocker spaniels, Myrtle and Rhubarb, but we also live at Legerwood, not far from Melrose and very much enjoy getting the best from both city and farm life.
