Junior Languages
Educated at The High School of Dundee , then studied Languages at St Andrews University, before completing a post graduate certificate in Primary Education.  My first post was as class teacher of Form 1 (now known as Form 3) here at St.Mary’s School in Melrose as long ago as 1988!  I lived in as a member of the boarding staff in those days and also coached girls hockey and tennis.

In 1990 I married and moved to be class teacher of L6 in the Junior department of Dundee High School.  Within a few years we were back in the Borders with a young family.  By 2001, I returned to a part-time post at Channelkirk Primary School in Oxton, teaching the upper stages with specific responsibility for French and liaising with the Modern Language department of the local high school.  In 2008, I came back to St.Mary’s as Junior Languages teacher, teaching French and German to Lower and Upper Transition and Forms 3,4 and 5.  It is very rewarding to be able to develop the talent and enthusiasm of the St.Mary’s pupils and at the same time be able to share my love of languages with them.

Outside of school my hobbies include tennis, golf, skiing and spending time in France, enjoying their culture and of course their excellent wines!
