About Us

Public Benefit

The staff and Governors of St. Mary's recognise that the school has a clear responsibility to both the local and wider communities in terms of Public Benefit. These are some of the ways in which St. Mary's school endeavours to fulfil that responsibility:Public Benefit

*  We provide an excellent all-round education to boys and girls aged 2½ - 13.
* We offer qualified support to children who have additional learning needs.
* We give open access to our facilities (buildings and grounds) to a number of organisations, both local and from further afield.
* We offer means tested Bursary awards (see Bursaries page) designed to encourage access to St. Mary's to children who otherwise would not be able to afford the school fees.
* Pupils are regularly engaged in charitable fundraising activities such as our charitable performance of Oklahoma on 21st March 2012.  All proceeds from this performance have been donated to the Margaret Ker Appeal for an inpatient specialist palliative care unit at the Borders General Hospital.
