The Friends of St. Mary’s, also known simply as the Friends, is a group of enthusiastic volunteers who aim to help play a part in creating a positive and friendly school community and to enhance the time that all pupils and parents spend at St Mary’s.
The group comprises of a Friends Representative from each class who bridge the gap between the Friends and the rest of the parent body.
The Friends organise fundraising events, coffee mornings, social gatherings and fun events throughout the school year. Our meetings and all events are open to everyone. You are warmly invited to attend any of our events, join a planning meeting or share your time supporting our efforts.
Keep an eye on the Friends notice board that is outside the Form 2 classroom, the weekly St Mary’s mail, the St Mary’s school Instagram site and form Whatsapp groups for announcements on our events, meetings and funding updates.
The funds raised at our events go back to the school, benefiting the pupils and staff at St. Mary’s. We also donate to a chosen charity. Our charity for the Lent and Summer Terms (2023/2024) is Riding for the Disabled.
The Friends support the running of the Second Hand Uniform Shop. The Shop is an excellent way of buying and selling gently used school uniforms.
Every week the Friends support Wednesday Match Teas for all home sports fixtures. The Friends serve tea, coffee and treats (provided by the wonderful kitchen staff) to spectators and visitors.
