U11 hockey v Loretto

Wednesday 8th December 2021

St Mary’s -8: Loretto-2

Captain: Esmee

What way to finish an exciting term of hockey. These young ladies have grown in confidence and in self – belief since taking to the pitch in late August. They have worked hard in every session, learnt and questioned, but most importantly brought with them a huge sense of fun.  I am so proud of each and every one of them and there is no doubt, that as a team, they have a bright future ahead. This season, they have beaten every school team they have played scoring 38 goals and conceding just 8.

Today’s match saw great positional awareness and much more confidence on the ball; there was also an opportunity for playing in different positions (something the girls know I am very fond of!) It was a deserved win and we were so glad that parents were able to come and watch –thank you.

Scorers: Martha x 3, Aleshya x 2, Megan, Mary, Sophie

Aleshya- superb game awareness and a sweep which would make players twice her age envious!

Martha- fantastic speed and dexterity reads the game like a pro.
Sophie- steadying influence good repertoire of skills.
Mary –great to see her growing in confidence and positional awareness.
India-Speedy Gonzales not afraid to experiment.
Ophelia- quite superb in defence with a brilliant eye for the ball. Enjoyed some super runs up the pitch today.
Jemima- confidence has soared as has pitch awareness- her best game to date!
Esmee -loads of potential and has made the Goal Keeping position her own. So keen to learn and now well able to instruct her defence.
Megan- missed so much due to injury but has bounced back and worked hard in a variety of positions, first goal for the team today!
Immy- unable to play today but has made great progress over the term and is a vital cog in our wee team.
Bravo, girls!
