U11 hockey v Fettes

Wednesday 3rd November 2021
St. Mary’s - 8: Fettes – 1
Captain: Martha

The U11 team were delighted to welcome spectators to Tweedbank and to put on a good display of hockey for them.  The game started at a frantic pace and there was a fair bit of muddling and tripping over one another – all our talk of using space appeared to have gone out the window! That said, we won the first half by 3 goals to Fettes 1.
The second half saw a different team emerge and one I was more familiar with.  Passing was slick and far more accurate with the girls communicating well, and finding space. Much to the delight of the side line support, a variety of St. Mary’s players netted another 5 goals, whilst Esmee saved some hard strikes from the opposition.
Full time saw us win the match by 8 goals to 1 with the girls having been moved in and out of different positions – this they did with aplomb showing our strength across the game.
Next week is the IAPS tournament where every girl need to be at the top of her game – wish us luck!
