U13 B Boys vs Loretto

On Wednesday we welcomed an eager group of Loretto boys for our second fixture of the season, St. Mary’s were keen to get going after the narrow loss to Merchiston.

Loretto got 2 quick tries in the first 10 minutes through some very strong running and speedy offloading, but St. Mary’s were quick to respond with a great try which started with a line out and through good handling skills whilst running forward the ball got to the wing and got finished in the corner. This try reflects what we have been doing in training, trying to play quick exciting rugby. The score was 5-20 with the visitors leading at half time.

After half time St. Mary’s kicked off, putting in a high kick with a good chase forced a knock on and St. Mary’s had a scrum just off the 22, a cheeky blindside pass created a 1 v 1 scenario which we were able to score. St. Marys were able to keep the ball very well and control the game in the second hand, depth in attack was key as it gave the boys more time to get the pass away.

Full time: STM 25 – 25 LORETTO

Player of the match goes to Hector for a great all-round performance and showing bravery and determination in his tackling, including a try saving tackle which kept St. Mary’s in the game!
