Scottish Prep Schools Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition 2019

Venue: Strathallan School
Date: Thursday 2nd May
Team: Jake M (captain), George R, Geordie M.
As we dropped down into Bridge of Earn off the M90, our horizon was obscured by a veil of rain; rain, that during the afternoon was set to dampen clothing but not spirits!
After a delicious lunch, the boys were given their safety briefing and shown the format for the afternoon ahead. The shoot was to be a 25 clay layout with a mixture of singles and pairs.

Geordie was first to shoot for St. Mary’s and he got the team off to a steady start. The ‘rabbit’ he dusted on a few occasions and his trusty .410 didn’t let him down on the others too. George was second to go and he too proved a dab hand, shooting singles and pairs with apparent ease! Jake was the last to take the stand and showed why he had won the ‘Top Gun’ prize for the past two consecutive years.
Although they all shot well, the Riley boys were not going to be bettered today and they deservedly won both the ‘High Gun’ and team prizes; the home advantage proving invaluable. Well done to the boys and thanks to Strathallan for hosting another fantastic day and for offering a super opportunity for the team.

Mr P.
