GAP SURPRISE

By Hannah Francis & Amelie Gibson

Last Friday we were all bubbly and excited as we ran over to the boarding houses to get ready into our 'G' themed outfits... By 5.30pm we were all transformed into goddesses, gymnasts, gangsters, grannies, Grinches, gingers and grapes. We loaded into three minibuses buzzing about what was to come. As we drove to the crossroad south of Melrose, was it Kelso..., St Boswells... or Jedburgh that we were heading to? We kept going and soon arrived at Born in the Borders, open just for us!

We headed into the café for a delicious feast of homemade burgers and ice-cream. Then the seniors eagerly went outside and on to the ice rink which was lit up with fairy lights. We all had a slippery start but soon found our feet as we danced, skated and raced around the rink to Christmas tunes. Inside the juniors played Twister, Connect Four and Jenga. Then the groups swapped and the juniors had their turn on the ice. There were human trains and dance offs  as everyone whizzed around on the ice. Back inside there were warming hot chocolates filled to the brim with marshmellows and topped off with cream. The groups swapped again and Stefan and George were treated to a Christmas flash mob by the seniors while the juniors watched a Christmas movie.
