Felt Poppies

Back in May, Poppy Scotland sounded the call to Scottish schools to sign the 1918 Poppy Pledge. We decided to sign up with the hope of raising £1,918 to aid Poppy Scotland support the Armed Forces community living in Scotland today.

Every child from Kindergarten to Form 8 were happy to roll up their sleeves and work in our very own poppy factory. We hand felted poppies that were made with care and attention. The children were aware of the dedication of the workers at the Earl Haig Poppy Factory and we were inspired.

The wider St Mary’s community gamely took up the next stage and each poppy was embellished with a thoughtful stitch or two.The poppies were now quite lovely and completely unique.

The St Mary’s community were quick to start selling the poppies far and wide.  So with the fabulous support of so many individuals we have raised our target of £1,918.  Heartfelt thanks to all the hands that our little poppies travelled through.
