Boarding

Week ending 5th July

Monday 2nd July

After a BBQ tea, boarders enjoyed free time in the school grounds with a choice of rounders, tennis and football. It was another glorious night and everyone had fun playing and chatting with their friends.

Tuesday 3rd July

Restoring an old tradition... everyone headed up to Bowden Loch to begin a walk up and around Eildon Hill North and back through the saddle between the peaks. It was a special time for this year's leavers to look down on Melrose and reminisce about their happy time at St. Mary's.

Wednesday 4th July

Following Prizegiving Form 8's played rounders and Danish longball out on the back pitch. Then it was pizza around the fire pit in the staff garden, a photo movie with a round up of this year's boarding highlights and then Form 8 set about the school creating amusing and thoughtful pranks for their much loved staff... Mr Matt Ballantyne has been appointed Headmaster for the last day of school (while Mr Harvey pops the balloons filling his car), trophies lie filled with breakfast cereal, classroom furniture is arranged creatively, notes with well wishes are left on white boards and a few infamous faces decorate the walls of the Hamilton. I wonder how many clocks will still be upside down next term :-)

WOW - what a year! Form 8, it has been an absolute pleasure to have you in the Girls' and Boys' Houses, you are part of one big family. You will be sorely missed but you have lead such a wonderful example to all who follow in your footsteps and that have been inspired to come and board with you. You are a credit to St. Mary's and I can't have wished for a better group to start my journey here. We all look forward to welcoming you back and hearing about your next adventures!
