U13B v Longridge Towers

On Wednesday afternoon the 2nd XI, also known as the Green Machine/Real St. Mary’s, opened their account with a belter of a victory over local rivals Longridge Towers.

We played in the classic 3-3-1 formation with William Mac ahead of midfield dynamos Antony dG, Jake and Callum. With Dicken, Hamish and Fergus ahead of Mac at the back we were confident that we had the defence and the firepower to best our visitors.

With a shrill peep of the whistle the match was underway and the Green Brazil were all over their visitors like a cheap suit. The midfield press of Antony, Jake and Callum created plenty of chances for William but the big man was just unable to convert any of them. It took a jinky run by maestro Callum to open the account for Spartak St. Mary’s.

From that point onward it was largely one-way traffic. Longridge Towers scored two screamers but Jake, sniper turned poacher, added four. Hamish bagged two and AN Other opened his season’s account with a very memorable effort.

Overall, it was an extremely entertaining game and the boys played some quality football to win the day.

Well done to all of you!
