U13A Football v Longridge Towers School

 Wednesday 10th January

After a well-deserved holiday, the boys got stuck straight into regular term fixtures after only having one games session, and they certainly surprised themselves.
The game kept going from one end to the other with both teams creating opportunities for their strikers, and their keepers pulling out some brilliant saves.  The first half finished 1-1 with Alex F getting the first goal of the season for St. Mary's.

The second half got off to a flyer for the boys in green and yellow with Ollie E getting on to the score sheet straight after half time. Usually this would knock teams back but Longridge kept pressing with their attack, through their captain, running the show in midfield with some many runs and great vision. The defensive line of Archie M, Matt and Caelan B. William T had other thoughts and shut them out with some clinical tackling and Ollie C in goal cleared up anything that did get through with expertise. Our midfield of Ollie Earnshaw, Tommy DB Thomas Elliot and Will S continued to supply good passes up to the attacking duo of Alex F and Jamie F and it wasn’t long before St. Mary's had two more goals, firstly by Tommy and then Ollie E finished off his afternoon with another goal.
Afterwards the boys voted William T as Man of the Match for his control at the back and supplying the midfield with a clean ball to press forward.
