U10 hockey v Mowden Hall

Wednesday 29th November
St. Mary’s 0, Mowden Hall 0
Captain - Mabel

On a  bitter cold November afternoon we headed over to Tweedbank to host one of the final matches in the Under 10 hockey season.

We won the toss and quickly took our positions and first pass.  It was fabulous to see the girls zooming around the pitch working together to move the ball towards the goal.  I was impressed with an increase in determination and confidence to take all chances to score, some with great success.

With a 5-0 lead at half time we made further changes to positions and swapped on three reserves who were sitting trying to keep warm in the wooden dug-out.   We remained strong in the second half and I was delighted to see some new faces score goals.  Our good fortune and strong teamwork continued in the second half although the temperature was dropping dramatically.  We were all delighted to hear the whistle and final result after a further four goals were scored.  A welcome hot match tea of sausages, chips and beans awaited us in the dining room.

Thank you to our supporters today who cheered us on all afternoon throughout freezing temperatures!

Great effort today girls - well done to one and all!

Under 10 team - Mabel, Sophie, Harriet, Emily, Skye, Tiggy (4 goals), Iona (3 goals), Anna (1 goal) and Kate (1)
