Wosps v Dandylions hockey
 Wednesday 22nd November

Venue: Kilgraston School

Wosps A 0, Dandylions A 4
St. Mary’s representatives: Jessica W (captain)
This was a fantastic game of hockey between two very accomplished squads. Jessica was nominated captain of the side, testament perhaps to her experience at playing a level of hockey beyond her years. The physicality of the Wosps might easily have disrupted he fluidity of the Dandylions team. However, I was pleased to see that our superior skill level counteracted the Wosp’s hunger for the ball and subsequently, we were able to dominate large periods of the game. Whist we came close to scoring on a number of occasions, the Wosps too threatened but some stoic defending and superb goal keeping kept the Wosps at bay. Jessica thoroughly merited not only her selection for the As but also her captaincy. Very well done.

Wosps B 2, Dandylions B 3
St. Mary’s representatives: Tegan T & Isla D
This was another tremendous game, a considerably closer affair than the A’s match. To say that conditions were bleak would be a huge understatement; it was horrendous! Driving rain coupled with bracing Perthshire temperatures, froze the fingers and numbed the toes and that was just the coaches! From the start we dominated this game. It was an understandably slow start but once the girls had acclimatised, they started to play some lovely hockey. Isla was playing in defence and was as sound as she has proven to be for her school all season; strong in the tackle and precise in her distribution. The Dandylions took an early lead which then doubled before half time. In the second half, the Wosps mounted something of a comeback. Tegan made some outstanding saves to prevent them taking the lead and then we managed to snatch victory in the last minutes of the game. A really great team performance. Congratulations to both Tegan and Isla for their Dandylions selection and for both playing so well.
 Mr P.
