Under 11 hockey v Ardvreck

Wednesday 22nd November 2017
St.Mary’s-4: Ardvreck-0

After leaving the very wet Borders, we arrived in an equally wet Perthshire. However, the girls were raring to go and after only 50 seconds we had our first goal courtesy of a well-positioned Daisy. One minute later, Elsa scored our second with a super reverse hit into the top of the goal mouth. Goal number three followed suite, this time from Elena ,and so it became clear there were many positional changes needing to be to be made. Despite these positional changes a fourth goal was scored just before half time, by Elsa again. We went into half time 4-0 up.
Strict umpiring of the St Mary’s girls and playing all but Emily out of position ensured the second half remained at 0-0. A well-deserved victory with the score line kept at a respectable level.

Emily - a quiet first half but some cracking saves in the second half. Proactive in going out to meet the ball.
Willa - played her best game of the term today. Kept her stick low, quick to tackle and to take sixteens.
Imo - improved stick work with some good runs when playing up front.
Freya - the pocket rocket. Super skills and never ending stamina.
Emma - confident, played well up front and in midfield. Good use of dodging.
Elsa - ran circles around the opposition. Good skills both strong and reverse side.
Kiki- great at running on to loose ball and never gave up.
Libby - great positioning up front. Stayed exactly where she should be but when playing midfield involved herself fully.
Elena - great use of the J turn. Kept the ball close to the edge on the wing, using the width of the pitch well.
Daisy - today’s captain, played a blinder. Great defence but great attacking skills too.
Thank you to the girls for understanding my motivation when moving them between positions, and to Jessie for her unending support!
