U9B Hockey v Cargilfield

 Wednesday September 27th

The Under 9B team comprising of Form 3 and Form 4 girls travelled to Cargilfield for their first game of the season.  This was the first time a number of the girls had represented the school and they were very excited to be playing. The match was played on astro and over three, 10 min periods
Cargilfield won the toss and had first push back.  Cargilfield quickly started to attack and St Mary’s were caught a little of guard.  Despite some determined tackling from the St Mary’s girls, they failed to clear the ball from their defensive half and Cargilfield quickly scored two goals.
During the first break the girls listened carefully to the advice given and came back strongly, utilising the whole pitch and moving the ball into their attacking half.  After some super play by the forwards, St Mary’s scored a goal, finishing the second third only a goal behind.
During the final third the teams were evenly match and the ball moved quickly between ends, both teams had shots on goal but neither managed to score.  The final result a 2 – 1 win to Cargilfield.
The team of: Bea, Beattie, Beatrice, Hannah, Kiera, Mahi and Tallulah played exceptionally well together and should be proud of their performance today. They have the potential to do well this season.
Well done girls.
