Under 11 Hockey v Loretto

Wednesday 6th September 2017

Loretto-5: St. Mary’s -1
Captain: Imo

U11 Hockey 6 sept

With just one training session under our belts, playing Loretto was going to be interesting. The girls had told me which position they liked to play, and to our delight Emily had requested trying out goal –keeper. So, for the first match I went with what the girls wanted…..!

Loretto proved a nippy little team right from the word go, they had some very skilful players, communicated wisely and used the drop pass well. We were 2 nil down at half time and had not really got in to our stride; a wee chat as the girls caught their breath spurred them on and soon we had a goal of our own-a draw was in our reach. However, it was not to be and as the St. Mary’s girls tired the Loretto forwards capitalised on this, knocking in 3 more and bringing the final score to a well- deserved 5-1 victory for the hosts.

Despite this loss there were many positives; we have lots to work on and possibly a few positional changes. Special mention must go to our two new players-Kiki and Daisy, I was so impressed with your tenacity and to Emily for bravely and enthusiastically taking on the role of goalie.

Well tried-I look forward to a re-match later in the term.
