U11 Rounders v Riley House

Wednesday 3rd May

St. Mary’s 23 – Riley House 9

U11 Roundes v Riley House 3 Ma

It was lovely to welcome Riley House on such a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. As well as the opposition, the sunshine brought many supporters to the back
pitches creating a real buzz about the place.

As the game got underway, the St Mary’s girls were batting first so they needed to be on form to set a good benchmark. Luckily, the girls were well warmed up
and the majority of the balls were hit so they did their best to bag ½ rounders as much as possible. Riley had some good fielders, however, and worked the ball back to their bowler well, to stop our batters running on. The St Mary’s girls did manage to wallop the ball really well at times and over two innings managed to gain an impressive total of 23 rounders with just four girls getting caught or stumped out.

Riley were not short of a few big hitters either and two girls in particular tested the fielding capabilities of the St Mary’s girls. The urgency of their fielding when the ball was missed in order to get it to 1st post really paid off as it caught the Riley girls off guard a wee bit and on many occasions the live batter was stumped out. There were also a couple of high hits that were caught which displayed composure under pressure from St. Mary’s. Riley ended their batting with a score of 9.

Well done on a super afternoon to all the girls taking part.
