Rowan Boland Trust

Wednesday 3rd May

It was decided that money accumulated in a recent Six Nations staff sweep be donated to The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust.
Rowan was a talented sportsman and at the age of nine, collapsed and died whilst playing cricket nearly eight years ago.  His parents decided to set up a trust in their son’s name, to offer financial support to talented young sports people in the Borders.  The family are much loved and respected in their home town of Galashiels, and Rowan’s father, Davie Boland (“Eckie”), is one of the plasterers working on our new boarding house at the moment.
Yesterday morning, Davie and Keith (a trustee of the charity), popped to The Hamilton Building to receive a cheque from the school.  Pictured below are staff who have an association with the family.
St. Mary’s rounded the figure up to £100 which is our small but symbolic acknowledgement of people turning their own personal tragedy in to a positive support of others.  A wonderful memorial to their son.
