U11B v Cargilfield

3rd May 2017

St Mary’s u11B – 238 runs
Cargilfield - 229 runs

Victory by 9 runs!

Like a phoenix rising for the ashes, the U11 Bs have turned round their start to the cricket season in some style! The sun was shining and the outfield was quick but that did not deter the boys’ enthusiasm to take wickets and catches galore! Once again, down a man in the field but you would never have noticed with the voices of encouragement coming after every bowl, every piece of quality fielding and every throw restricted Cargilfield to a final total of 229. Every bowling pair picked up wickets, but it was Ed Stephens who was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets in some fashion, and before long it was our turn to bat.

U11B cricket 3 May

Ed and Archie Jackson opened the batting and got us off to a steady start, with correct run calling and some nifty shots, the scoreboard started to tick over.  Next into bat was George Brownlie and Callum Anderson. Callum played the clever shots and kept the singles going whilst George took control and started hitting the boundaries to pile the pressure on to the very good Cargilfield bowling attack. The third pair of Ollie Little and Alexander Nixon Newton maintained our grip on the scoreboard and finally Ollie Earnshaw came to the crease, accompanied by Ed, to steer the team to victory in the final 3 overs.
Everyone played their part and the boys should be very proud with their performances, not only individually but as a team as well! Well done boys!
