1st Netball v Ardvreck & Riley House
Wednesday 15th March
Today’s matches were our last of the season and what a great way to go out; with a bang! We played Ardvreck first and managed to get out onto the court in ample time for a good warm up, so were firing on all cylinders by the time the match started. As this was a triangular, we played two, twelve minute halves.

We got off to a cracking start and scored within a few seconds. Strong gusts made shooting and long passes tricky, so the girls adapted their game accordingly and soon found their rhythm. All ten Form 8 girls played today so at half time I rotated them to make sure that they all got some court time. The changes made little difference to our overall dominance and in the second half we continued to extend our lead, playing some fantastic netball in the process. Again, our work rate was phenomenal and Ardvreck had no answer to our energy and accuracy. Ardvreck scored a few so we by no means had it all our own way but the girls thoroughly deserved the win.

We waited for our second game while Riley played Ardvreck then we took to the court for our last game of the season. We were slightly slower out of the blocks for this game and although we managed to retain the lion’s share of possession, conditions were not easy and scoring became even harder. However, before too long the girls managed to find their range and the score started to reflect our superiority on the court. At half time, I again made some changes and swapped the girls into different positions. Riley had one or two tall and strong girls playing in defence, which made getting the ball to the shooters, a challenge. As a result, the scoring slowed but this didn’t affect the outcome and we girls saw out the afternoon with another very pleasing win.
So there you have it! Another netball season done and dusted. All that’s left for me to do now is to congratulate the girls on what has turned to be an extremely successful and enjoyable season. Well done and thank you to you all.
