U12 Netball 8 March

The U12 team visited Belhaven on a blustery but sunny afternoon, a nice change from the recent bitterly cold conditions they’ve had to play in.

The St Mary’s team got off to a positive start and made use of some lovely set pieces from the centre pass to move the ball quickly and accurately to GA and GS in the D. Play was quick and furious and St Mary’s finished the first quarter 3 – 2 in the lead.

In the second quarter Belhaven were more accurate with their passing and the St Mary’s girls struggled to get the ball passed their opposition’s defence and into the D, finishing the quarter a goal down. (4 – 5).

They approached the third quarter determined to regain the lead and demonstrated some lovely defensive play and quick accurate passes in attack, maintaining the score to one goal difference at 5 – 6.

Despite the determination and enthusiasm of all the girls in the final quarter Belhaven dominated play and although St Mary’s scored 2 goals the Belhaven shooter scored a further 6.  Final result 7 – 12.

All the girls moved quickly around the court throughout the match, running into space to receive the ball and the set centre passes worked well.
Well played girls, it was a super game to umpire.

Team: Freya (Captain), Lucy, Maria, Phoebe, Rowan (2), Ruby, Tegan (5)
