U9 Netball v Loretto

Wednesday 1st March

On a gloriously sunny winters afternoon, we travelled to Loretto for our last match of the season. St Mary's won the toss and elected to take the first centre. St Mary's got off to a strong start maintaining the possession of the ball for much of the first quarter, and despite some excellent goal keeping from Loretto, the shooters managed to score two goals. The whistle blew and the next quarter started with St Mary's again dominating play, and this time managing to score four goals making the half time score 6-0. We decided to give players the experience of a variety of different positions and everyone proved to be very versatile as we continued to add to our goal tally. Loretto had a couple of opportunities to score a goal but were unable to put the ball in the net. St Mary's sped ahead with another 3 goals, making the final score 11-0 in favour of the girls in green. Loretto were very impressed with the St Mary's play because up until this game they had been unbeaten. A fantastic finish to the season in which the girls have shown great progress and I have thoroughly enjoyed taking them.
