U9A Netball v Cargilfield

17th January 2017
For the first game of the season we travelled away to Cargilfield who always prove to be difficult opponents so early in the season. After our very successful hockey season, the Under 9's had a lot to live up and they travelled to Edinburgh with both excitement and anticipation. It's been a difficult start to the term with cold weather and snow on the ground making it impossible for us a have a full seven a side game on a marked court – it was to be a steep learning curve!

In the first half of the game St Mary's had a bit of a shaky start. Their footwork was good but they had forgotten how to move quickly to lose their opponent and fine a space to receive the ball on the move. Towards the end of the half St mary’s managed to get the ball in their attacking ‘D’and the GS confidently scored their first goal. As the game progressed and St Mary’s gained in confidence, the team played with more determination and desire to win. The Cargilfield team on the other hand had some excellent shooters and managed to score 5 goals. St Mary's did well to score a second goal in the second half making the final score 5-2 to Cargilfield. I have every confidence that the team will continue to improve and have more success in forth coming matches
