U11 Hockey v Riley House

Wednesday 7th December 2016
St.Mary’s-3: Riley House-1
Captain: Anna M

U11 Hockey 71216

A great finish to what has been a super season for the U11 squad with only one loss, early on in the term ,they have played 14 games with 57 goals for and only 15 against.

The match against Riley started off rather scrappily but in their defence, I had moved some of the girls out of their usual positon, as both Molly S and Amelie were injured. The ball spent the majority of the time in our D but the Riley goalie held firm and saved attempt after attempt-all credit to her for her composure! A breakaway run caught us off guard and just on half-time Riley made a successful attempt at goal.

Going in to half time 1-0 down was not what we had anticipated; discussion over going in for the rebound after an attempt on goal and keeping our width ensued.  And so a different team emerged and the usual will to win was at the forefront. Three super goals were scored; all from pleasing team play and then the finishing skills of our two girls up front-everything we have worked on all season came to fruition! Bravo girls, what a team!
