Dandylion v WOSPS

 Wednesday 23rd November

As: Dandylions 5, WOSPS 0

St. Mary’s representative: Lucy B.

Although I didn’t see this game, I am reliably informed that it was fabulous! Although a good side, the Wosps struggled to cope with the pace, skill and intensity of the game and it wasn’t long before the Dandylions took control. With the score at 2 - 0 at half time, the girls relaxed into the second half and continued to play some superb hockey. Lucy scored the opening goal of the game and later scored a second to round off what clearly had been a great day in the office for her as well as the others in her team.

After a slow start the Dandys found themselves chasing this game. The Wosps seemed hungrier and subsequently ran much of the first half. They took the lead mid way through the half courtesy of a goal mouth scramble but that was arguably deserved following their dominance. A regroup and a couple of changes at half time, saw the tide turn in the second half. The girls started to play some lovely hockey and deserved to equalise shortly after the restart. The Wosps then struck back and maintained their lead through until 2 minutes before the final whistle. One of the Loretto girls found herself with time and space to pick her spot and slotted home the goal that earned us a draw.

Jess and Chloe both played some fantastic hockey and thoroughly justified their selection. Thank you to Loretto for hosting us all and congratulations to all the girls for braving the cold and representing their schools so well.
