U11 Hockey v Longridge 16 Nov

St Mary’s -2: Longridge-1
Captain: Hannah C

We went back in time on Wednesday and played hockey on grass-the girls realised what a hard time their mum’s had back in the dark ages! The ball refused to travel quickly and thus the girls had to do the work-by jove it was hard on a bumpy, squelchy pitch and there was a great deal of hilarity, as well as mud.

Unfortunately our first goal was deemed to have hit the outside of the goal (despite being stuck INDSIDE the net), as I would hope, the girls were accepting of this interesting decision. Half team saw the score at 0-0 despite us having most of the possession.

Five minutes in to the second half the ball stotted in to the D, it was struck by one of our team and helped into the goal by the Longridge goalie! Longridge then replied with one of their own-it was all to play for. We were all delighted that Lara sprinted in to the D shot at goal and then belted the ball at the gaolie, from the rebound…a deserved 2-1 to St. Mary’s.

Well done team-aren’t you lucky to be a hockey player in 2016, not in 1980!!
