U10 Hockey v Longridge 16 Nov

We travelled to Longridge Towers School for our first fixture of the season on grass!  After a training session on grass at hom, we were amazed at the difference in speed and ball control but nevertheless were ready for a challenge.

We won the toss and started play on the rather soft and muddy surface.  The girls were soon gaining confidence and displaying their usual skills by passing to each other albeit at a much slower speed.  St. Mary’s scored a very impressive 5 goals in the first half and another 2 in the second half to make the score 7-0 at full time.

Today was a great learning curve for everyone as we battled against the weather, mud and had to slow down to control the ball.  I was delighted with the team work on display and look forward to our next fixture (back on astro) against Clifton Hall and Ardvreck next week.

Under 10 team – Libby, Willa, Anna, Imo, Emma, Elena, Freyja, Elsa and Emily (Captain).

Well done girls and thank you to Mrs Scott for helping with transport.
