U10 Hockey v Loretto

Wednesday 9th November
St. Mary’s 10, Loretto 1

 U10 hockey 91116

We played against Loretto at our first match of the season and after leaving Musselburgh on that day back in September with a 1-1 draw, the team we very keen to end today with a win.

Things started well as we won the toss and took the first pass.  I was delighted to see the girls focus on the game, look before passing the ball and demonstrate good stick skills whilst passing the ball wide towards unmarked players.  Time and time again, the team took every chance to get near the goal as well as put up a strong defence to stop the opposition scoring.  I was delighted with the fabulous teamwork, confidence and skill on display today.

Match summary:

Libby – confident in defence as well as on the wing in the second half with good strong passing skills
Emily – keeps a good eye on the ball as sweeper and tried out new skills when she moved to centre forward
Emma – (Captain) – started in midfield and worked hard to move the ball towards the goal before moving to defence
Imo – excellent as centre forward and keeps focused throughout the game
Willa – moved from midfield to wing and demonstrated good ball skills and confidence to move forward with the ball
Freyja – once again, speeds around the pitch with controlled stick skills, a great quick thinker within the team
Elena – works relentlessly from centre positions to keep the ball flowing in the right direction
Elsa – another very successful match where she used wonderful stick skills to push the ball over and over into the goal, great work!

This was an excellent display of teamwork and skill after many hours of hard work in our training sessions.

A well-deserved win today! Well done to each and every one of you.
