U10 Hockey v Belhaven 121016

Our fixture today was the first one on the calendar after our fabulous training session earlier this week with the Scotland  hockey captain, Miss Becky Merchant.  I am sure Miss Merchant would be impressed with our performance against Belhaven.

We won the toss and took the first pass back to get the game started. The Belhaven girls were strong in defence and although we had chances to score, the opposition kept the ball away from their goal area and continued to show this determined approach throughout the game.  We were delighted to score late in the first half to give us a 1-0 lead.  As we swapped ends for the second half, we knew the opposition would be keen to score and we were not wrong.  Quite quickly, Belhaven scored after some lack of concentration by our defence.  With most of the second half remaining, we had it all to play for.  I was delighted to see our team take advantage of spaces, pass the ball with great accuracy and ensure passes were powerful in order to get nearer and nearer to the goal area.  The remainder of the game seem to pass in a flash as we scored goal after goal with some wonderful team work and clever stick skills by our attacking trio.  We were delighted to score a total of four more goals to add to our goal from the first half.

Today proved to be a wonderful way to finish for half term and I am delighted with the enthusiasm from everyone today.

Thank you to our loyal supporter, Mrs Scott who travelled with us to Dunbar today.
