 1st netball v longridge

This was only our second home game this season and following an excellent performance last week against a very strong Ardvreck side, today the girls followed that up with an equally as strong showing against Longridge.
The first quarter was probably our best. We dominated play from the outset and by the time the 10 minutes were up, we had secured a convincing lead. Flora’s shooting was exceptional, scoring with her 1st 8 consecutive shots. Lucy too was on target in the first quarter and both girls were being well supplied by Lucy B (C) and Cameron (WA), who positionally, were superb.
We mixed things around a bit for the second period which allowed the girls to experience a different position. This did slow our hit rate, however the girls adapted well to their new positions and continued to retain the lion’s share of possession. We swapped positions again for the 3rd quarter during which Longridge began to gain momentum and they enjoyed more time on the ball. Stephanie and Cameron were both shooting during this quarter and despite being completely new to the roles, both scored quite consistently and kept our total moving. Naesi had joined the squad today and thoroughly justified her selection. Despite being moved from pillar to post, her dynamism and versatility was impressive. Molly also proved to be a vital and versatile cog in our machine today. She too didn’t play in the same position twice and enjoyed her time in a slightly more offensive role.
For the final quarter I allowed Flora and Lucy to return to GS & GA respectively and played Stephanie as WA, which proved very effective. The girls continued to play some lovely netball and managed to maintain their grip on the fixture. So all in all, a very successful day in the office and excellent preparation for next week’s trip to Ardvreck. Well done to all concerned.
