U10B Netball v Loretto Feb 16

A lively U10B team travelled to Loretto very much looking forward to the opportunity to play in an away match. The team had a tentative start and took time to settle into the game. They quickly found themselves five goals down in the first quarter and with another 30 mins to play the final score seemed bleak.

A change of positions and a few key points addressed at quarter time made all the difference. To St Mary’s credit, Loretto only scored one goal in the next quarter but  still needed to make the score board and getting into the attacking circle would help. St Mary’s defence marked very tightly and allowed Loretto only one more goal in the third quarter.

St Mary’s concentrated on moving to find space rather than standing and calling for the ball which meant that the ball travelled with speed and fluidity up to the shooting circle. Unfortunately the whistle blew signalling the end of the third quarter before the ball left the shooters hands and the opportunity was missed.

After three hard fought and long quarters the St Mary’s team ran out of steam in the final quarter. They focussed on the coaching points throughout the entirety of the game and considering the fly away start Loretto had, did a magnificent job to keep the final score to 0-9 to Loretto. Well done to all the team Molly C, Sumaiyah , Hannah F, Amelie G, Lucy, Anna and Libby.
