U11 Netball v Ardvreck

Wednesday 3rd February 2016
St.Mary’s-6: Ardvreck-4

Captain: Rowan

U11B Netball 3 feb 16

A super game played in good spirit. This was the first match for some of our players and they were very excited about taking to the court. With a couple of injuries and some illness too, we had to include four  girls who had just played for the A team-they will have been exhausted last night so well done Isla, Rowan, Iona and Sasha(who all played out with their ’usual ‘position)

The first quarter saw us take a one goal lead; Rowan netted 2 goals to Ardvreck’s 1. Freya bravely took on the role of centre and adapted quickly to being allowed in most areas of the court, she looked for Lucy and Ruby and fed them the ball when she saw them in a space.

Two more goals in the second quarter, a brilliant long range shot from Isla and another from Sasha along with pleasing defending from Iona and Rowan ensured we stayed in the lead…but by just one goal!

Ruby and Lucy swapped positions and enjoyed trying a different role on the court; they realised the important of communication and called for the ball at appropriate times. This quarter mirrored the previous one-same scorers and 2 to us, 1 to Ardvreck.

Now tiring, and not surprisingly, we allowed Ardvreck to win the final quarter by one goal to nil. However the B team’s first outing had been a 6-4 victory.

Well done to all of you.
